Job Description
McKesson is an impact-driven, Fortune 10 company that touches virtually every aspect of healthcare. We are known for delivering insights, products, and services that make quality care more accessible and affordable. Here, we focus on the health, happiness, and well-being of you and those we serve - we care.
What you do at McKesson matters. We foster a culture where you can grow, make an impact, and are empowered to bring new ideas. Together, we thrive as we shape the future of health for patients, our communities, and our people. If you want to be part of tomorrow's health today, we want to hear from you.
We're seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to help shape and measure the financial impact of McKesson's AIM28 transformation program and other strategic initiatives. This highly visible role will lead value-realization methodology, investment business case governance, executive reporting, and financial performance transparency across a portfolio of strategic transformation initiatives.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in transformation finance, business case development, value realization, and executive stakeholder management. This individual will partner across Finance, Technology, and Business teams to ensure transformation investments deliver measurable outcomes while advancing AI-enabled finance capabilities and executive decision support.
The Senior Financial Analyst Transformation & Value Realization for U.S. Pharmaceutical Distribution (USPD) will report directly to the Sr. Director, Finance (AIM28) and serve as the lead finance individual contributor responsible for AIM28 and other strategic initiatives value-realization methodology, investment business case discipline, and executive-ready financial performance transparency. This role will establish and govern the financial logic that connects program benefit realization to actual P&L impact by product, segment, and customer, ensuring transformation value is measurable, defensible, and integrated with the financial outcomes Business Finance teams own.
This is a high-impact transformation finance role operating at the intersection of enterprise strategy, analytics, technology enablement, and financial governance. The position will act as a recognized Finance expert and trusted advisor to McKesson Technology, Big Bet business leads, Business Finance, and the AIM28 Modernization Office, shaping how value is defined, measured, reported, challenged, and sustained across the transformation lifecycle.
The role requires both strategic advisory capability and hands-on execution. The successful candidate will lead complex, cross-functional finance workstreams without formal people-management responsibility, influence senior stakeholders through rigorous financial analysis, and champion AI-enabled finance workflows using tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Claude, Power BI, Power Automate, and other approved enterprise technologies. This is a lean team; the role is expected to lead through expertise, judgment, and influence while personally advancing critical work.
What You'll Do
Value-realization methodology & P&L governance
Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent experience. MBA or advanced degree preferred.

What You'll Do
Value-realization methodology & P&L governance
- Establish and govern AIM28 Finance value-realization methodology, including benefit definitions, measurement rules, financial validation standards, and decision-ready reporting logic.
- Lead financial benefit tracing from AIM28 Big Bet-level value claims to actual P&L impact by product, segment, and customer where applicable, ensuring alignment with the books owned by Business Finance teams.
- Serve as the Finance escalation point for complex discrepancies between reported AIM28 value and business-unit financial results, recommending resolution paths and governance improvements.
- Lead development, refinement, and governance of investment business cases for new and in-flight AIM28 initiatives, partnering with McKesson Technology, Big Bet business leads, Business Finance, and the AIM28 Modernization Office.
- Independently pressure-test assumptions behind proposed investments, including cost, timing, benefit sizing, operational readiness, risk, and confidence of realization before recommendations reach Finance leadership.
- Translate complex technology and business proposals into financial narratives, investment recommendations, and executive decision materials that enable disciplined prioritization and funding decisions.
- Define AIM28 financial reporting strategy and requirements in partnership with the AIM28 BIE resource, translating value methodology, metric definitions, and governance rules into scalable dashboards and automated reporting.
- Act as the senior finance bridge between Big Bet business teams, Technology, analytics partners, and Finance leadership, ensuring reporting solutions reflect the right financial logic, controls, and decision needs.
- Establish quality-control routines for validating dashboard output, benefit reporting, and executive materials before senior leadership review.
- Champion practical adoption of enterprise AI assistants and automation tools to improve Finance productivity, business case development, insight generation, reconciliation support, and executive narrative drafting.
- Identify, pilot, and scale AI-enabled workflows for recurring finance activities, including data pulls, reconciliations, variance explanations, initiative tracking, and first-draft leadership materials.
- Partner with Technology and analytics stakeholders to explore AI agents, automation patterns, and governed workflow solutions purpose-built for transformation finance use cases.
- Serve as the lead Finance IC and day-to-day strategic partner to the Sr. Director, Finance (AIM28), driving cross-functional workstreams, decision readiness, action tracking, and executive review preparation.
- Lead Finance support for the MBR cadence, four-gate sign-off process, investment prioritization discussions, and executive presentations with rigorous, well-sourced financial analysis.
- Proactively identify financial, operational, data-quality, and governance risks; recommend mitigation actions; and influence stakeholders to resolve issues before they affect leadership decisions or value commitments.
- Recognized finance transformation expertise. You have deep experience translating enterprise transformation goals into financial methodology, measurable outcomes, governance routines, and executive-ready insights.
- Senior stakeholder influence. You can influence Finance, Technology, business, and transformation leaders through structured analysis, clear recommendations, and credible challenge.
- Advanced business case leadership. You have led business case development for complex investments, challenged assumptions, quantified financial impact, and supported funding or prioritization decisions.
- Practical AI and automation leadership. You use AI assistants and automation tools to improve finance workflows and can identify where governed AI-enabled processes can create measurable productivity or insight gains.
- Comfort partnering with a technical counterpart. You don't need to code yourself, but you can specify the "what" and the "why" clearly enough for a BIE or data engineer to build the "how."
- Executive presence and strategic communication. You can frame complex financial issues, defend assumptions, and present clear recommendations to senior Finance and business leadership.
- Lead-level ownership without direct reports. You lead by expertise and influence, driving complex work across teams while personally advancing critical analysis and deliverables.
- Advanced Excel: financial modeling, sensitivity analysis, and scenario planning.
- Executive tooling: advanced PowerPoint for business-case and executive storytelling.
- BI literacy: working knowledge of Power BI or a similar dashboarding tool, enough to read, question, and validate what a BIE builds, even if you're not building it yourself.
- AI assistants / LLM-based tools: hands-on, practical experience with enterprise AI assistants (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, Claude) for prompt-based analysis, drafting, and workflow automation.
- Workflow automation: familiarity with low-code tools (e.g., Power Automate) or comparable, and curiosity for AI agent-building.
- P&L fluency: understanding of P&L structure and how benefit or value metrics tie back to product, segment, and customer-level financials.
- Systems exposure: familiarity with ERP/financial systems (e.g., SAP) sufficient to trace data lineage back to source.
