Job Duties
- Own spacecraft electrical power architecture from battery through power distribution.
- Design battery management systems and electrical protection circuits.
- Develop power conversion hardware including DC-DC converters and switching electronics.
- Design actuator drive electronics and high-current switching circuits.
- Implement fault protection, current limiting, and electrical redundancy strategies.
- Develop power telemetry and health monitoring systems.
- Create schematics, PCB layouts, manufacturing documentation, and design reviews.
- Perform board bring-up, validation, troubleshooting, and environmental testing.
- Analyze electrical performance using laboratory instrumentation.
- Collaborate with firmware, systems, and mechanical engineering teams throughout product development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years designing power electronics or electrical power systems.
- Experience with DC-DC converters, switching power supplies, and power distribution.
- Experience developing lithium-ion battery systems and battery management.
- Understanding of thermal management and power system reliability.
- Experience using Altium Designer, KiCad, or similar PCB tools.
- Strong hardware debugging experience using oscilloscopes, electronic loads, and power supplies.
Preferred Experience
- Aerospace, defense, automotive, or other mission-critical electronics.
- Motor controllers, H-bridges, or actuator drive electronics.
- Radiation-aware or high-reliability electrical design.
- Thermal vacuum or harsh environment hardware.
- Embedded power telemetry over I2C, SMBus, or similar protocols.
- Basic firmware or scripting to support hardware validation.
