Position Summary
We are seeking experienced FOIA Analysts to support a federal agency's Freedom of
Information Act (FOIA) program. The successful candidate will process FOIA requests,
conduct records reviews, apply statutory exemptions, coordinate with agency
stakeholders, and ensure compliance with federal FOIA regulations while meeting
established processing deadlines.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience supporting federal FOIA operations, strong
analytical abilities, excellent writing skills, and the ability to manage multiple requests
simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Process incoming FOIA and Privacy Act requests from receipt through final
response.
Review, analyze, and organize responsive records.
Conduct electronic and manual records searches across multiple systems.
Apply FOIA exemptions and redact records using approved redaction software.
Prepare draft response letters and determination packages.
Coordinate with agency offices, subject matter experts, and legal counsel as
needed.
Track request status and maintain case documentation.
Ensure compliance with FOIA statutory deadlines and agency policies.
Prepare reports, metrics, and status updates.
Support litigation holds, appeals, and administrative reviews when required.
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive government information.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum 10 years of experience supporting Federal FOIA programs of similar
size, scope, and complexity.
Experience processing FOIA requests from intake through final response.
Knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act (5 U.S.C. 552) and Privacy Act.
Experience applying FOIA exemptions and conducting document reviews.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting Cabinet-level federal agencies.
Experience using FOIA management systems.
Experience with electronic discovery (eDiscovery) platforms.
Experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro or FOIA redaction software.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
Active Public Trust or ability to obtain required government clearance.
Required Experience
At least 10 years of Federal FOIA support experience involving comparable size,
scope, and complexity.
Experience reviewing large volumes of electronic records.
Experience preparing legally sufficient FOIA responses.
