IMS Systems Programmer

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities

  • install and support IMS product
  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain IBM IMS products on z/OS.
  • Administer and support IMS/TM, IMS/DB, IMS MSC, and IMS related subsystems.
  • Perform IMS product installation and maintenance using SMP/E.
  • Troubleshoot IMS system issues, analyze dumps using IPCS, and perform root cause analysis.
  • Support IMS database administration activities including recovery, reorganization, and performance tuning.
  • Design and maintain IMS database structures and physical database layouts.
  • Monitor IMS environments and ensure high availability and optimal performance.
  • Support COBOL and PL/1 based IMS applications.
  • Work with application teams, operations teams, and vendors to resolve production issues.
  • Implement IMS maintenance, PTFs, upgrades, and migration activities.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and support guides.
  • Participate in on-call support and disaster recovery activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 8+ years of Mainframe System Programming experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on IMS Administration/System Programming experience.
  • Strong troubleshooting and production support background.

Nice to Have

  • DB2 knowledge
  • CICS administration experience
  • Automation tools exposure (REXX, NetView, OPS/MVS)
  • ITIL process knowledge
