QA tester( Need Local to CT only) F2F Interview

The Connecticut Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) Governing Board is seeking an experienced Application Tester to support the Connecticut Information Sharing System (CISS) and other systems managed by CJIS.

CISS provides an integrated solution for sharing criminal justice information among Connecticut criminal justice agencies while complying with State and Federal CJIS Security Policies.

The Application Tester will be responsible for system testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), requirements validation, defect management, and test automation. The position requires an understanding of large integrated systems and the ability to identify and trace issues to their source.

Key Responsibilities

Application & System Testing

• Create detailed test use cases.
• Execute system and application testing.
• Perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
• Validate system requirements.
• Create and document test results.
• Implement testing activities required by project managers.
• Conduct testing for new CJIS releases.
• Support testing activities involving CJIS stakeholders.
• Validate the Requirements Traceability Matrix against contractual requirements.

Defect Management

• Identify and document defects discovered during testing.
• Enter defects into the designated defect-management tool.
• Report defects and test results to the Test Lead.
• Support resolution of defects discovered during testing.
• Provide testing-process consultation to the project team.
• Work with developers and other team members to identify the source of application issues.

Test Automation

• Support the full lifecycle of automation framework development.
• Collaborate on the architecture and expansion of the automation framework.
• Develop and maintain automated test suites.
• Integrate automated testing with DevOps processes.
• Perform data-driven automation testing.
• Utilize automation reporting tools such as Extent Reports.

Technical Testing

• Test web services manually using SoapUI and/or Postman.
• Work with SOA technologies.
• Develop complex SQL queries using Microsoft SQL Server.
• Work with NIEM XML or another complex XML standard.
• Utilize programming skills in C# or Java.
• Work with GitHub for source/version control.

Documentation & Communication

• Provide documented testing processes to the testing team.
• Prepare test-result reports.
• Develop presentations for stakeholders, officials, and other interested parties when requested by management.
• Work cooperatively with team leaders, managers, developers, testers, designers, and other project personnel.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Technology.
• Exposure to programming in third-generation programming languages.
• Knowledge of software design patterns.
• 5 7 years of experience as a tester on IT projects.
• Experience with NIEM XML or another complex XML standard.
• Experience manually testing web services using SoapUI and/or Postman.
• Ability to understand complex, integrated systems and trace problems to their source.
• Experience with SOA technologies.
• Experience writing complex SQL queries using Microsoft SQL Server.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency in C# or Java.
• Experience with automation reporting tools such as Extent Reports.
• Proven experience with data-driven automation testing.
• Knowledge of GitHub.
• Experience developing and maintaining automated testing frameworks.
• Ability to integrate automated test suites with DevOps.
• Ability to validate requirements through a Traceability Matrix.
• Ability to work collaboratively with developers, testers, designers, managers, and other team members.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications Candidates who meet one or more of the following qualifications will receive preference:

• Working knowledge of IBM Rational Jazz Suite.
