Data Protection & Governance Officer

Quest Search & Selection is currently recruiting for aData Protection & Governance Officer. This role is to deliver the organisation's data protection and governance framework across a large, fast-paced, B2C business. The position focuses on ensuring GDPR compliance, managing data subject rights requests, supporting data breach investigations, maintaining privacy governance documentation and providing clear, practical data protection advice to stakeholders across the organisation.

This business is a leading international business operating across retail, eCommerce and financial services, delivering products to customers across multiple channels.

The roles and responsibilities of this Data Protection & Governance Officer role:

• Provides day-to-day operational support for data protection and privacy matters
• Manages Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs), right to erasure, objection, and restriction requests.
• Investigates and supports the reporting and resolution of personal data breaches.
• Reviews data protection clauses within commercial contracts, supplier agreements, and Data Processing Agreements.
• Maintains Records of Processing Activities, Data Protection Impact Assessments, and Legitimate Interest Assessments.
• Advises on privacy by design requirements for new systems, projects, and business processes.
• Provides practical data protection and GDPR advice to internal stakeholders.
• Delivers data protection training and promotes privacy awareness across the business.
• Monitors changes in data protection legislation and supports updates to policies and procedures.
• Supports data protection compliance across a range of operational and governance activities.

To be successful in this Data Protection & Governance Officer role:

• Experience in data protection, privacy, compliance, or governance within regulated environments.
• Ideally having background in financial services, fintech, banking, insurance, or other regulated sectors.
• Strong knowledge of UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, and PECR.
• Able to interpret regulations and apply them commercially.
• Strong organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• CIPP, CIPM, BCS, or similar qualification is advantageous.
• Experience in retail, e-commerce, or consumer businesses is beneficial.
• Familiar with ISO 27001, data governance frameworks, and emerging technologies such as AI.
