About Inspired ICT
Inspired ICT Solutions Ltd is a small, expanding IT support company serving primary schools across Berkshire, North Hampshire and South Oxfordshire. We provide a broad range of technology, support and project services, and we pride ourselves on being approachable, dependable and willing to go the extra mile for our schools.
What you will do
Reporting to the IT Support Team Leader, you will manage a varied workload of support tickets and projects, working both independently and collaboratively. Your responsibilities will include:
- Provide friendly and effective technical support to teachers, pupils, school technicians and senior leaders.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network, Wi-Fi and audio-visual issues.
- Install, configure and maintain computers, software, servers, network equipment and related technology.
- Administer Microsoft 365 services and school IT systems.
- Manage support tickets, prioritise competing demands and keep users informed of progress.
- Document faults, solutions, configurations and completed work accurately.
- Complete site visits and contribute to planned installations, upgrades and school-holiday projects.
- Explain technical issues in clear, straightforward language.
- Follow safeguarding, data protection and information-security procedures.
- Maintain high professional and ethical standards when representing Inspired ICT.
- Technology and customer needs evolve quickly, so the scope of the role will develop over time. We are looking for someone who is adaptable, curious and committed to continued learning.
Essential experience and skills
- Practical experience providing IT support, ideally in a school, education setting or managed service provider.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to work with technical and non-technical users.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve problems calmly and efficiently.
- Ability to organise priorities, meet deadlines and work independently.
- Attention to detail and accurate technical documentation.
- A customer-focused, patient and helpful approach.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint, Entra and Intune.
- Understanding of IP networking and switching, including LAN, WAN, WLAN and VLAN technologies.
- Experience configuring and supporting Wi-Fi systems.
- Understanding of Active Directory, DHCP, DNS and Group Policy.
- Experience administering physical or virtual servers.
- Experience with mobile device management systems, such as Lightspeed or Securly.
- Awareness of safeguarding responsibilities and UK GDPR requirements.
- A full driving licence, access to a suitable car and willingness to travel regularly.
- Ability to complete an enhanced DBS check.
Additional Requirements
- Client Site Readiness: The engineer must be prepared to attend client sites at short notice whenever required, maintaining a flexible and responsive approach to meet business and client needs.
- Company Uniform: Wearing the company-issued uniform is mandatory during working hours and when attending client sites, maintaining a professional appearance and representing the company positively.
- Professional Conduct: The engineer is expected to be punctual, well-presented, and ready to respond to client requirements as needed.
Desirable experience
The following experience would be advantageous but is not essential:
- Relevant IT certifications or experience managing certificates and certificate authorities.
- Ticketing and remote monitoring and management tools, such as Autotask PSA, Datto RMM or N-central.
- Wi-Fi platforms such as Ruckus, Cambium or Ubiquiti.
- Microsoft Intune.
- Microsoft 365 migrations from on-premises Active Directory and file servers.
- Advanced VLAN configuration and traffic management.
- Routers and firewalls.
- Audio-visual equipment, including sound systems, projectors, touchscreens and interactive displays.
Why join Inspired ICT?
We are an open, supportive and approachable small business. We share knowledge, encourage ownership and give colleagues the support and autonomy they need to do their best work. We value straightforward communication, professional development and strong relationships with both colleagues and customers.
We also recognise that some IT work must occasionally take place outside normal hours. Any requirement for out-of-hours work will be discussed and planned wherever possible, and flexibility will be reciprocal.
Safeguarding and pre-employment checks
Because this role involves working in schools, appointment will be subject to an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references and confirmation of the right to work in the UK.
