Digital Certificate Management Consultant
- Rate: £535 - £580 per day (Inside IR35, PAYE via Umbrella company only)
- Location: Inverness or Preston - 5 days per week onsite
- Duration: 6 month contract
- Clearance: Active SC clearance required. Candidates must be a sole UK national and must not have spent more than 28 consecutive days outside the UK in the last 5 years.
We are looking for a Digital Certificate Management Consultant to join a large, multi-supplier (SIAM) environment, operating within the Operational Integrator (OI) function. This is a governance, coordination and assurance role covering digital certificate management across all suppliers - it does not involve certificate administration, PKI operations, cryptographic engineering or technical certificate deployment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Govern the digital certificate management framework across suppliers, ensuring alignment with security policy, cryptographic standards, risk management and regulatory requirements
- Act as the primary coordination point for certificate management activities across suppliers, validating compliance and driving resolution of gaps in inventory, ownership and reporting
- Ensure suppliers maintain complete, accurate and appropriately classified certificate inventories, and govern life cycle activities (issuance, renewal, revocation, replacement)
- Maintain visibility of certificate risk across the supplier landscape, supporting risk assessment, risk acceptance and escalation through governance forums
- Produce consolidated certificate reporting, dashboards and metrics for operational and security governance boards
- Define evidence requirements and support internal/external audit and assurance activities
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Experience in Digital Certificate Management, PKI Governance, Cyber Security Governance, Information Assurance or GRC
- Strong understanding of certificate life cycle management, certificate-related operational risk, and governance/assurance practices
- Experience working within multi-supplier, SIAM or complex outsourced environments
- Strong stakeholder management and supplier coordination skills
- Experience producing governance reporting and risk-based management information
Desirable:
- Knowledge of enterprise PKI, Public CAs (DigiCert, Sectigo, Entrust, GlobalSign), ISO 27001/ISMS, NIST CSF, NCSC guidance
- Experience within Defence, Government, CNI or other highly regulated environments
- Exposure to ServiceNow, GRC tooling or certificate management platforms
Candidates must hold active SC clearance, be sole UK nationals, and have not spent more than 28 consecutive days outside the UK in the last 5 years. Pre-employment checks (identity, nationality/immigration status, 3-year employment history, DBS) will apply.
