Job Description

Help drive plant reliability at a major UK manufacturing site

We are recruiting for an experienced Electrical and Instrument Engineer to join a major chemical / process manufacturing site in Greatham.

The plant is entering an exciting new stage, with renewed focus on engineering capability, plant reliability, asset performance and safe production.

This is a key technical role where you will support plant teams, resolve E&I issues, improve reliability and contribute to planned maintenance, outages, plant modifications and continuous improvement activity.

What youll be doing

You will:

  • Provide technical E&I engineering support to plant teams.
  • Troubleshoot plant issues and lead technical investigations.
  • Specify electrical equipment and instrument repairs.
  • Support planned maintenance events, outages and emergent work.
  • Identify and deliver reliability improvement opportunities.
  • Provide E&I input to safety reviews, risk assessments and incident investigations.
  • Maintain and update E&I asset life plans.
  • Assess plant modifications and help manage engineering risk.
  • Support compliance with site engineering standards and best practice.
  • Work closely with Production, Engineering, Technical, Maintenance and specialist service providers.
What were looking for

You will need:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Control Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer status, or to be actively working towards it.
  • 5+ years experience in an Upper Tier COMAH, chemical, manufacturing or process environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical, instrumentation and control systems.
  • Knowledge of SIL assessment and Safety Instrumented Systems.
  • Experience supporting troubleshooting, planned maintenance, outages and emergent work.
  • Experience contributing to safety reviews, risk assessments, incident investigations and engineering change assessments.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication and influencing skills.
Useful experience

It would be beneficial if you have experience of:

  • MOD300 or DeltaV DCS systems.
  • Management of Change or Inhibits signatory responsibilities.
  • Duty E&I Manager responsibilities.
  • Leading cross-functional problem-solving teams.
  • Developing E&I life plans and CAPEX recommendations.
  • Managing specialist E&I service providers.
