Job Description

Performance Engineer Location: REMOTE Duration: 6+ months contract
Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced Development Lead / Architect with a strong background in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) to lead the technical evolution of our Human Capital Management (HCM) and Talent Management platform. This hybrid role combines architectural role with hands-on reliability engineering, focusing on building scalable, secure, and high-performance systems on AWS. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the platform's architecture, guiding engineering teams, and ensuring operational excellence through performance tuning, load testing, and automation.
Key Responsibilities: Architecture & Development Leadership

  • Design and evolve cloud-native architecture for HCM and Talent Management solutions.
  • Lead technical design reviews and establish coding and architectural standards.
  • Collaborate with product and UX teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Drive modernization efforts including microservices, event-driven architecture, and API-first design.

Site Reliability Engineering

  • Define and enforce SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets across services.
  • Lead performance benchmarking, load testing, and capacity planning for high-scale environments.
  • Build and maintain observability platforms (monitoring, logging, tracing) to ensure system health and performance, preferably using Datadog etc.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and deployments using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
  • Optimize CI/CD pipelines for reliability, speed, and security.

Cloud & Platform Engineering

  • Architect and manage infrastructure on AWS, leveraging services like ECS/EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, and IAM.
  • Ensure platform scalability and resilience through auto-scaling, failover, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Implement security best practices and compliance controls relevant to HCM data (e.g., GDPR, SOC2).

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Mentor and guide engineers across development and SRE disciplines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including QA, Security, and DevOps.
  • Influence organizational standards for reliability, scalability, and operational maturity.

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, architecture, or SRE roles.
  • Proven experience designing and scaling distributed systems in the HCM or Talent Management domain.
  • Strong programming skills (e.g., Node/Nest, React, SQL/Postgres Servers).
  • Deep expertise in AWS cloud services and infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker/OpenShift, and microservices.
  • Proficiency with IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Strong understanding of performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, Gatling, k6).
  • Experience with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog).
  • Demonstrated leadership in technical teams and mentoring.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Workday, SuccessFactors, or similar HCM platforms.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks (SOC2, GDPR, ISO 27001).
  • Experience with service mesh, distributed tracing, and chaos engineering.
  • Contributions to open-source projects or technical communities.
