Job Description
Under the direction of the Supervisor, Radio Systems, the Physical Security Technician I, is responsible for facilitating repairs, service and maintenance of various Department of Public Safety (DPS) managed programs and systems for all aspects of the Casino, Hotel and Tribal Government Access Control databases.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Installs, repairs, and maintains commercial door hardware, including mechanical locks, panic devices, door closers, electrified strikes, electrified locking hardware, card readers, and other access control components. Coordinates maintenance, repairs, and equipment replacements; supports access control system installations and upgrades; programs access control panels; and collaborates with vendors and internal partners to ensure secure and reliable operation of physical security systems.
2. Responds to phone calls, emails, voicemails, verbal requests and work orders. Issues and tracks work orders, documenting all repairs, services and maintenance performed. Collaborates closely with vendors to ensure the timely resolution of service issues. Manages vendor activities related to emergency repairs of all security systems, including after-hours system failures, troubleshooting hardware and equipment issues, and restoring systems to proper operating condition.
3. Identifies and troubleshoots low-voltage electrical issues such as loose connections, grounded wiring, damaged insulation, and electrical current irregularities. Installs raceways and conduits, and tests and repairs electrical circuits and sensors in accordance with industry standards. Conducts monthly testing of backup batteries, keypads, and sensors. Participates in semi-annual alarm compliance testing to ensure all alarm devices are properly identified and fully operational.
4. Supports new projects in both existing and new construction by assisting with product evaluation, system testing, field verification, and inspection of work in progress for compliance with contracts and security industry standards. Facilitates security system integrations, software updates, and assists in training Public Safety team members on the maintenance and operation of all security systems.
5. Participates in the development, planning, and management of processes and practices for new security functions to ensure alignment with enterprise and community goals. Establishes work techniques and ensures compliance with professional standards, directives, approved procedures and policies, applicable federal and state regulations, Tribal ordinances, and all Indian gaming-related regulations.
6. Identifies and resolves issues related to team member badge access levels, onboarding badge setup, access control system profiles, and construction vendor credentials in timely and accurate manner. Adopts effective and reasonable courses of action, swiftly considering all relevant circumstances. Addresses equipment-related questions and resolves complaints efficiently.
7. Maintains inventory of essential parts, tools, and test equipment to support efficient and continuous operation of all security systems.
8. Performs other duties as assigned to support the e?cient operation of the department.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Minimum one (1) year experience working with installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electronic physical security systems, including access control, alarm systems, and related security hardware, required.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience working in a casino environment or Tribal Government preferred.
- Related, relevant, and/or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements indicated above.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)
- Knowledge of commercial door hardware, including mechanical locks, panic devices, door closers, electrified strikes, and electrified locking hardware.
- Knowledge of physical security principles, access control systems, credential management, user access controls, security protocols, and loss prevention practices.
- Knowledge of security policies, procedures, and access control standards related to physical security systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and construction documents.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware, wiring, and access control system issues.
- Ability to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial door hardware and integrate it with electronic access control systems.
- Knowledge of low-voltage wiring, access control devices, card readers, sensors, and related security equipment.
- Skilled in installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting electronic access control (EAC) and other physical security systems.
- Ability to read, write, and speak clearly and professionally to ensure effective communication in safety-critical and security-sensitive environments.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS
- At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
- An Associate Protection Professional (APP) certificate from ASIS preferred.
- Authorized Driver: Role requires operation or driving of Tribe-owned vehicles or driving patron vehicles. A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the insurance carrier is required.

- Primary work environment varies between climate-controlled office setting, gaming facility and outdoor areas.
- Work requires travel to attend meetings, trade shows, and conferences.
- Incumbents may be required to work evening, weekend and holiday shifts.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
- Strength sufficient to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects and/or move up to 40 pounds occasionally.
- Sedentary work: involves sitting most of the time. Constantly operates a computer and other
office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
- Physical activities that apply to the essential functions of the position are balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
- Hearing sufficient to hear conversational levels in person, via videoconference and over the telephone.
- Speech sufficient to make oneself heard and understood in person, in front of groups, in meetings,
via videoconference and over the telephone.
- Visual acuity that meets the requirements of the position: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading and visual inspection of employees, visitors or facility.
- Mobility sufficient to safely move in an office environment, walk, stoop, bend and kneel, and enter, exit and operate a motor vehicle in the course of travel to promotional events, meetings, conferences, trade shows and San Manuel properties.
- Endurance sufficient to sit, walk and stand for extended periods, and maintain efficiency throughout the entire work shift and during extended work hours.
- The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including secondhand smoke.
