ECU Firmware Engineer | Auburn Hills, MI, United States | Hybrid

We're hiring on behalf of a leading global automotive manufacturer actively undergoing a significant digital transformation. This organization is at the forefront of redefining automotive technology and customer experiences, creating captivating advancements in the latest frontier of mobility.

The Role

  • Design, develop, and optimize software for microcontroller units (MCUs) in automotive applications, collaborating with hardware engineers and system architects.
  • Develop embedded firmware for automotive ECUs, including startup code, peripheral drivers, and low-level hardware abstraction layers (HALs).
  • Integrate real-time operating systems (RTOS) such as FreeRTOS or Zephyr into MCU software architectures.
  • Port and customize Board Support Packages (BSPs) and Android Guest OS for automotive platforms.
  • Enable display, audio, camera, and serial interfaces in the System-on-Chip (SoC), performing system performance profiling and optimization.
  • Implement communication protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN, Ethernet) and networking stacks for ECU communication.
  • Conduct unit testing, integration testing, and validation to ensure software reliability and functionality, ensuring compliance with automotive standards like MISRA C and ISO 26262.
  • Create and maintain software design documents, interface specifications, and test plans.

What You'll Need

  • Proven experience in embedded firmware development for automotive applications.
  • Strong understanding of microcontroller units (MCUs) and System-on-Chip (SoC) architectures.
  • Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) like FreeRTOS or Zephyr.
  • Familiarity with automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet).
  • Knowledge of automotive industry standards and regulations (e.g., MISRA C, ISO 26262).
  • Experience with BSP and Android Guest OS enablement is a plus.
