Job Description

Associate or Analyst - Commodity Sales Support / Client Service

Location: New York, NY
Schedule: 5 days in office
Level: Associate (2-5 years)

About the Firm

A leading global bank with a strong presence across markets, commodities, asset management, and advisory services. The firm operates in more than 30 markets worldwide and is known for its expertise in commodities trading, derivatives, and risk management, as well as its broader banking and financial services capabilities. With a long history of profitability and a uniquely entrepreneurial culture, the institution is recognized as a top player in global markets and a major provider of capital, market access, and financial solutions for institutional clients.

Role Overview

The team is seeking an Associate to support its Commodities & QIS Sales group. This person will partner with senior sales professionals to manage client workflows, support market‑driven initiatives, and ensure exceptional service for institutional clients. The ideal candidate has 2-5 years of sell‑side experience and a strong interest in commodities, systematic strategies, and flow‑based products.

This is a developmental role designed for someone who wants to grow into a front‑office sales seat - not just operate in support or operations long‑term.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support senior sales team members with daily institutional client coverage.
  • Handle deal bookings, client follow‑ups, meeting materials, and sales decks.
  • Provide day‑to‑day account management and operational oversight across active clients.
  • Help deliver proprietary quant model outputs and product materials to asset managers, hedge funds, and other institutional investors.
  • Assist with the distribution of commodities flow‑based products and QIS‑related offerings.
  • Collaborate closely with structuring - the teams work with significant overlap.
  • Maintain internal systems, CRM entries, and reporting tools to support revenue generation.
  • Prepare client meeting notes, summaries, and follow‑through action plans.
  • Ensure all trade lifecycle steps and client requests are handled accurately and promptly.

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of experience on the sell side (sales, sales support, trading assistant, or similar).
  • Background or strong interest in commodities is required; specific sub‑sector expertise is flexible.
  • Exposure to QIS, systematic strategies, or derivatives is a plus.
  • Strong communication and client‑facing skills.
  • Exceptional organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, markets‑focused environment.
  • Must be comfortable working 5 days per week in the office.
  • Desire to grow into a sales/front‑office role over time.

What This Role Offers

  • A clear development runway with hands‑on mentorship from senior sales leaders.
  • Deep exposure to commodities, QIS models, and institutional client workflows.
  • A collaborative culture where sales and structuring operate with tight alignment.
  • Growth potential into a full client‑facing sales seat.
  • Ownership of meaningful account and operational processes from day one.
  • A firm that prioritizes grassroots growth and invests in junior talent.
