Senior WebSphere Developer/Architect

Location: Remote

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior WebSphere Developer/Architect to support a large-scale application modernization initiative involving the migration of 20+ enterprise applications from Traditional IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) to Open Liberty/WebSphere Liberty.

The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with WebSphere migrations, Java application modernization, performance tuning, and enterprise middleware technologies. This role requires close collaboration with client application teams, technical leadership, and end-to-end migration support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead migration of enterprise Java applications from Traditional WebSphere Application Server (WAS) to Open Liberty/WebSphere Liberty.
  • Analyze, remediate, and optimize application code and server configurations during migration.
  • Install, configure, customize, upgrade, and support IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM) solutions.
  • Perform application deployment, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and system optimization.
  • Conduct ELM health checks and provide performance analysis and recommendations.
  • Collaborate directly with client application teams and IBM delivery teams throughout the migration lifecycle.
  • Develop technical documentation, migration strategies, and best practices.
  • Deliver knowledge transfer sessions and provide technical leadership to client teams.
  • Support production deployments and post-migration stabilization activities.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in Java and enterprise middleware development.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with IBM WebSphere Application Server (Traditional WAS).
  • Proven experience migrating applications to Open Liberty/WebSphere Liberty.
  • Strong Java/J2EE development background.
  • Experience with enterprise application modernization and migration projects.
  • Expertise in WebSphere installation, configuration, administration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
  • Experience working directly with client application teams in enterprise environments.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
