Position Overview

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a Salesforce Solution Engineer to design and deliver end-to-end solutions on Salesforce Government Cloud supporting mission-critical Child Welfare program applications.

The role will support case management, licensing, service operations, and related workflows while ensuring solutions align with program objectives, technical standards, security requirements, and long-term Salesforce platform strategy.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience across Salesforce solution architecture/design, configuration, Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Flows, integrations, technical discovery, and enterprise development, preferably within public-sector or regulated environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical discovery sessions with Product Owners, business stakeholders, and program teams to understand requirements.
• Evaluate solution options and recommend best-fit Salesforce approaches.
• Lead Salesforce integration design, solution blueprinting, and configuration strategies.
• Design and develop scalable Salesforce solutions using both declarative and programmatic capabilities.
• Develop Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Flows, and enterprise system integrations.
• Follow Salesforce engineering standards, platform governance, security requirements, and best practices.
• Review Salesforce Spring, Summer, and Winter release notes for breaking changes, deprecations, new settings, and feature impacts.
• Assess the impact of Salesforce platform releases on existing applications, integrations, and configurations.
• Support release management and platform readiness activities.
• Apply AI-driven approaches to enhance Salesforce solutions and identify practical intelligent automation use cases.
• Ensure responsible, secure, and compliant adoption of emerging AI technologies.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, program stakeholders, developers, architects, and other technical teams.
• Provide technical leadership throughout solution design and development.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of hands-on Salesforce experience across configuration, customization, and solution design.
• 5+ years of hands-on Salesforce development using Apex, Lightning Web Components, and enterprise integrations.
• 3+ years supporting public-sector, regulated, compliance-heavy, or similarly complex multi-team environments.
• 2+ years leading technical discovery, solution design sessions, or development teams in a senior/lead capacity.
