Principal Radiation Physicist | Ulverston, United Kingdom | Hybrid

The Role

  • Supervise and conduct assessments and experiments to support system qualification.
  • Contribute to ongoing design optimisation for advanced systems.
  • Produce and review radiological safety justifications for proposed design solutions.
  • Direct the development of in-house toolsets to meet departmental objectives.
  • Support detailed shielding design, balancing build constraints with system performance.

What You'll Need

  • A relevant STEM degree in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, or Nuclear Engineering.
  • Demonstrable experience with radiation transport codes such as MCNP, MCBEND, or Attilla.
  • A strong understanding of radiation physics and its practical applications.
  • Experience in radiation safety studies and radiation metrology.
  • Knowledge of the ALARP principle.
