Job Title: Customs Brokerage Specialist

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Customs Brokerage Specialist to support U.S. import operations in a remote, contract-based role. This position requires hands-on experience with U.S. Customs entry processing, strong knowledge of customs regulations, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with internal teams, carriers, freight forwarders, and importers. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in customs compliance, tariff classification, and PGA requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare, file, and manage U.S. Customs entries, including CBP Forms 3461 and 7501, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Perform HTSUS classification, including research and application of correct tariff codes.

File and manage ISF (10+2) submissions and ensure compliance with CBP requirements.

Utilize ACE to file entries, monitor cargo release status, and track customs holds, exams, and resolutions.

Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations (19 CFR) and all applicable import requirements.

Identify and apply relevant trade programs such as USMCA, GSP, duty drawback, and manage impacts of Section 301/232 tariffs.

Interpret and validate commercial documents, including invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and certificates of origin.

Assess and apply Incoterms to determine proper valuation, responsibility, and compliance implications.

Manage Partner Government Agency (PGA) requirements, including FDA, USDA, EPA, FCC, NHTSA, and others as applicable.

Work closely with carriers, freight forwarders, vendors, and importers to obtain missing or corrected shipment data.

Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with customs and internal compliance standards.

Use WiseTech / CargoWise brokerage software for entry processing and workflow management.


Qualifications & Experience:

Proven experience in U.S. customs brokerage and entry writing

Strong working knowledge of HTSUS, ACE, ISF, and PGA requirements

Proficiency with WiseTech / CargoWise or similar customs brokerage software

Solid understanding of U.S. import regulations and compliance procedures

Experience working with multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities

Ability to work independently in a remote setting

Preferred Skills:

Experience handling complex commodities and regulatory requirements

Familiarity with audits, customs exams, and post-entry corrections

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability to manage multiple entries and priorities efficiently
