Job Description

At the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, technology powers everything we do.

Job Description

From major international conventions and exhibitions to concerts, gala dinners and corporate events, our infrastructure must be reliable, secure and ready to perform every day.

We're looking for an experienced Senior Platform Engineer to join our Technology team and help build, maintain and continually improve the infrastructure platforms that support both our corporate operations and live event environments.

If you're passionate about modern infrastructure, cloud technologies, automation and continuous improvement, we'd love to hear from you.

The Role

Reporting to the IT Manager and working under the technical direction of the Platform Engineering Lead, you'll play a key role in implementing, maintaining and improving the technology platforms that underpin the organisation.

You'll work across infrastructure, cloud, identity, networking, endpoint management and venue technology, ensuring our platforms remain secure, resilient and highly available.

This is a hands on technical role where you'll have the opportunity to contribute to infrastructure modernisation, automation, cybersecurity improvements and platform standardisation while supporting one of Australia's most dynamic technology environments.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Building, configuring and maintaining infrastructure platforms across cloud, networking, identity, endpoint and venue technologies
  • Implementing standard platform designs and engineering best practices
  • Maintaining platform reliability through proactive monitoring, patching, upgrades and lifecycle management
  • Implementing and maintaining security controls while supporting vulnerability remediation and security improvement initiatives
  • Developing automation that improves deployment consistency, operational efficiency and platform reliability
  • Providing Level 3 technical support for complex infrastructure and platform incidents
  • Supporting root cause analysis and implementation of permanent technical solutions
  • Preparing and validating technology platforms supporting live event delivery
  • Developing and maintaining technical documentation, standards, runbooks and knowledge articles
  • Contributing to the ongoing evolution of GCCEC's technology platforms and engineering standards
About You

You're an experienced infrastructure or platform engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and takes pride in delivering secure, reliable and well-engineered technology solutions.

You have strong technical capability but also understand the value of documentation, standards, automation and continuous improvement.

To be successful in this role, you'll ideally bring:

  • Experience implementing and supporting enterprise IT infrastructure and platforms
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Windows Server, Active Directory/Entra ID and Microsoft endpoint technologies
  • Strong networking knowledge including switching, routing, wireless and network segmentation in enterprise, service provider or campus environments
  • Experience implementing security controls and supporting cybersecurity best practice
  • Experience with scripting or automation technologies such as PowerShell or similar tools will be highly regarded
  • Experience with backup and disaster recovery platforms
  • Experience supporting high-availability, hospitality, venue or event environments will be highly regarded
  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft, Azure, Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, Security or ITIL are all well regarded

If you're an experienced infrastructure or platform engineer looking for a technically rewarding role with variety, responsibility and the opportunity to work on modern enterprise technologies, we'd love to hear from you.
