Our client, working on behalf of the British postal service and courier company is urgently seeking a Performance Architect with extensive experience in Performance Architecture, Performance Engineering and System Optimization.
The successful candidate will be responsible for defining and driving the performance strategy across the entire solution lifecycle, ensuring that applications and platforms are scalable, resilient, and capable of meeting business and operational demands. The role focuses on embedding performance engineering principles from solution inception through delivery, providing architecture-led guidance, identifying and eliminating bottlenecks, and influencing enterprise-wide technology decisions.
Essential Skills/Knowledge/Experience:
- Extensive experience in Performance Architecture, Performance Engineering, and System Optimization.
- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture principles and distributed system design.
- Expertise in defining and managing Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs).
- Experience creating sizing models, capacity planning strategies, and workload forecasting approaches.
- Deep knowledge of application, database, middleware, cloud, and infrastructure performance tuning.
- Proven ability to conduct end-to-end performance assessments and bottleneck analysis.
- Experience with performance testing methodologies and industry-standard monitoring tools.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, working with CTOs, Enterprise Architects, and senior leadership.
- Knowledge of cloud-native architectures, microservices, and large-scale distributed platforms.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical decision-making capabilities.
Your Responsibilities:
- Define and govern the end-to-end performance strategy for applications, platforms, and enterprise solutions.
- Partner with Enterprise Architects, CTOs, and Program Leadership teams to ensure performance is considered throughout the solution lifecycle.
- Establish and validate Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) for scalability, availability, reliability, and response times.
- Develop sizing models, capacity plans, and workload forecasts to support business growth and operational demands.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve performance bottlenecks across application, database, integration, infrastructure, and cloud layers.
- Provide architecture recommendations to optimize system throughput, resilience, and resource utilization.
- Lead performance assessments during solution design, development, testing, and production readiness reviews.
- Define performance engineering standards, frameworks, tools, and governance processes across delivery teams.
- Drive performance risk management activities and recommend mitigation strategies for critical business systems.
- Mentor engineering and architecture teams on performance engineering best practices and emerging industry trends.
