Job Title: Manager – Technical Services
Location: Houston, TX(Onsite)
Role Overview
Client is seeking an experienced Manager – Technical Services to provide strategic leadership and direction for the Technical Services Department. This role works closely with Sales, Product Development, Application Engineering, Marketing, and customers to deliver high-quality technical support, establish service benchmarks, and contribute to the development and implementation of new products.
The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, deep technical expertise in electric power system protection and automation, and a customer-focused approach.

- Proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service and technical problem-solving for customers and internal teams.
- Extensive expertise in electric power system protection and automation, specifically protective relays and fault recorders.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
1. Customer, Technical & Business Support
- Support customers through:
- Product demonstrations
- Technical training
- Application guidance
- Technical consultations
- Collaborate with the Technical Services team to resolve customer issues through:
- Application notes
- Webex demonstrations
- Remote technical support
- Prepare:
- Product presentations
- Competitive product comparisons
- Technical documentation
- Assist in preparing and presenting technical proposals for Phase products, services, and solutions.
- Build strong customer relationships and serve as the secondary technical contact alongside the Regional Sales Manager (RSM).
- Support customers with:
- Installation
- Commissioning
- Operation of Phase systems
- Remote and onsite technical assistance
- Represent Phase at industry conferences and technical forums, including:
- NASPI
- IEEE PSRC
- Develop customer-facing technical documentation, including:
- User manuals
- Datasheets
- Ordering guides
- Provide technical support to:
- Marketing
- Sales
- Application Engineering
- Product Development
2. Leadership & Operational Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Technical Services Engineering team.
- Plan and manage departmental activities to ensure timely delivery of customer support.
- Establish and maintain high-quality service standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance customer support processes.
- Resolve customer issues efficiently while ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Monitor team performance and ensure departmental goals are achieved.
- Foster a customer-first culture across the Technical Services organization.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor''''s degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering (Mandatory).
- 10+ years of experience working with:
- Numerical Protective Relays
- Digital Fault Recorders
- Previous experience leading and developing technical teams.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to handle complex customer and employee discussions professionally.
Preferred Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of electric power systems, protection philosophies, and utility practices.
- Experience with protective relay applications within:
- Utility companies
- Engineering consulting firms
- Power system engineering organizations
- Experience with:
- EMTP
- Load Flow Studies
- Short Circuit Studies
- Knowledge of advanced communication protocols and communication system architecture.
- Expert knowledge of:
- Power System Protection
- System Integration
- Substation Automation
- Experience working with utility companies, consulting firms, or engineering organizations is highly preferred.
