Job description
Release & Environments Manager
Location: Hybrid, occasional travel to London office once a month
Salary: 65,000
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
The opportunity
An established organisation is looking for a Release & Environments Manager to help strengthen the way technology releases and environments are managed across its IT function.
You'll play a key role in coordinating releases, managing dependencies and ensuring changes are properly planned, tested and delivered with the right controls in place.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of an important area of technology delivery, working closely with technical teams, business stakeholders and external suppliers to improve processes, reduce risk and bring greater consistency to the release lifecycle.
The environment is continuing to evolve, so this role offers genuine scope to shape processes, introduce improvements and help develop a more structured and effective approach to release and environment management.
What you'll be doing
- Release management: Coordinate releases across development, test, UAT and production environments, ensuring timelines, dependencies and responsibilities are clearly defined.
- Release readiness: Manage readiness checks, approvals, go/no-go decisions, deployment plans and rollback arrangements to support controlled, reliable releases.
- Environment management: Coordinate environment availability, configuration, access, refreshes and maintenance to support development, testing and live services.
- Testing and delivery: Work with project teams, testers and technical specialists to ensure environments are ready when required and dependencies or issues are resolved early.
- Governance and risk: Maintain release documentation, change records, audit trails and reporting, ensuring appropriate controls are followed throughout the release process.
- Stakeholder management: Act as a central point of contact between technical teams, business stakeholders and third-party suppliers, keeping everyone aligned on plans, progress and risks.
- Continuous improvement: Identify opportunities to improve release processes, environment stability, documentation and automation, helping the wider IT function mature.
What we're looking for
- Experience coordinating technology releases and deployments across multiple applications or environments.
- A solid understanding of release readiness, change control, risk management and rollback planning.
- Experience coordinating development, test, UAT, pre-production and production environments.
- The ability to manage dependencies across technical teams, projects and business stakeholders.
- Strong organisational and communication skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively and keep activity moving.
- A practical approach to governance and process improvement, balancing appropriate controls with the need to deliver.
- Experience with Azure, Dynamics 365 or comparable enterprise application environments.
- Experience working with third-party suppliers and a range of internal stakeholders.
Experience with release tooling, deployment automation, ITIL, Agile or PRINCE2 would be beneficial.
Experience helping a smaller or developing IT function improve its processes would also be valuable. We're particularly interested in people who can take ownership, bring structure to existing ways of working and make a tangible difference.
What's on offer?
- Salary up to 65,000.
- Remote-first working, with some initial office attendance and occasional in-person collaboration.
- 28 days' annual leave plus bank holidays.
- An enhanced pension offering.
- The opportunity to shape release and environment management processes within an evolving technology function.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys bringing people together, improving how technology changes are delivered and taking ownership of a function with room to develop.
