Software Engineer - Next.JS/React/C#

Wolverhampton based - 3 days per week - £45K

I'm working with a leading organisation who are looking for a mid-level Software Engineer/Developer with commercial experience in modern web development technologies, including Next.js, React, JavaScript, TypeScript, and C#. The successful candidate will have experience working with MySQL databases, while familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure would be advantageous.

This role is suited to a developer with at least three years of professional experience who can work independently, take responsibility for delivering features from conception to deployment, and contribute to technical discussions within a collaborative engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, and maintain web applications using Next.js and React, with a focus on performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Build and maintain integrations between applications, APIs, and databases.
• Produce clean, maintainable, and well-tested code using JavaScript, TypeScript, and C#.
• Manage the full development life cycle of features, from initial design through implementation, deployment, and ongoing support.
• Participate in code reviews, sharing knowledge and providing constructive feedback to maintain code quality.
• Provide guidance and support to less experienced developers where appropriate.
• Collaborate with technical leads and other team members to deliver projects in line with agreed objectives and timelines.

Essential Skills and Experience

• At least three years of commercial experience in a software engineering or development role.
• Strong practical experience developing web applications using Next.js and React.
• Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, and C#.
• Practical experience working with MySQL databases, including database design and query optimisation.
• Experience using version control systems such as Git within a collaborative development environment.
• Evidence of relevant technical experience through previous projects or professional work.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to work in a hybrid environment, combining remote working with regular office attendance.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with Azure or other cloud platforms, including application hosting, cloud databases, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs using C# and .NET.
• Familiarity with Real Time communication technologies, such as WebSockets or Socket.io.
