The Role • Perform organizational-level maintenance and repairs on metal components for barges and installed equipment. • Execute welding tasks on various metal gauges and types in multiple positions, including flat, vertical, horizontal, and overhead. • Utilize diverse welding processes such as preheating, brazing, bead welding, tack welding, flame cutting, pressure welding, and heat treating. • Maintain fire watch and ensure availability of fire extinguishing equipment, adhering to hot work standards. • Obtain necessary approvals before undertaking any welding, burning, or open flame work. • Ensure all work meets OEM specifications, NAVSEA Standard Items, and safety requirements. What You'll Need • High School education or equivalent, with 6+ years of experience in welding and metal fabrication within marine or industrial environments. • Proficiency in multiple welding positions and processes (SMAW, GMAW, GTAW), along with fabrication skills. • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and OEM specifications. • Experience working in shipyard/barge environments and knowledge of relevant safety regulations (OSHA, NAVSEA). • Capability to perform torch cutting, grinding, fitting of metal parts, and support machinist tasks. • Possession of required hand tools for the trade specialty.
