Production Engineer Chelmsford, Essex
Salary Negotiable
Monday to Thursday 8:30am-5:00pm | Friday 8:30am-4:30pm A leading global engineering and technology company is seeking an experienced Production Engineer to join their manufacturing team in Chelmsford. Operating across the Aerospace, Defence, Space, Medical, Scientific and Industrial sectors, this business delivers cutting-edge technology solutions for some of the world's most advanced engineering projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer, Production Engineer or Process Engineer with experience supporting products through manufacture and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Duties Provide technical engineering support throughout the full manufacturing lifecycle
Support manufacturing, production and supply chain teams with technical problem solving and corrective actions
Conduct root cause analysis and component-level fault finding
Drive continuous improvement activities focused on manufacturing efficiency, cost reduction and process optimisation
Develop and improve manufacturing processes, production lines and assembly methods
Ensure products meet Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) requirements
Support NPI activities and engineering phase gate deliverables
Introduce new tooling, components and manufacturing processes into production
Manage engineering change processes from concept through to production approval
Produce and maintain manufacturing documentation and standard operating procedures
Support COSHH assessments, risk assessments and product safety activitiesSkills & Experience Degree qualified in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering or similar
Previous experience within an electromechanical manufacturing environment
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, assembly and test procedures
Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement and Six Sigma methodologies
Ability to carry out structured fault finding and root cause investigations
Knowledge of DFM/DFA principles
Experience using MRP or SAP systems would be advantageous
Understanding of RF testing, high voltage electronics or encapsulation techniques would be beneficial
