Job Description

Our client, a highly respected local authority in the highways sector, is seeking a talented Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) Engineer on a contract basis to support the delivery of the council's Local Network Improvement Programme (LNIP) and externally funded capital schemes. In this role, you will work within the Traffic Management team, focusing on the preparation, consultation, processing, and implementation of Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs). Your efforts will ensure compliance with relevant legislation and support the timely delivery of capital investment programmes, primarily associated with parking, speed limit, and movement restriction schemes.

Key Responsibilities:

Managing the preparation and delivery of Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs)<br />Ensuring compliance with traffic management legislation, particularly the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984<br />Handling statutory consultation and public consultation processes<br />Preparing technical reports and presenting recommendations to senior officers or elected members<br />Collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams to deliver highway or transport schemes<br />Managing competing priorities and meeting programme deadlines Job

Requirements:

Experience in preparing and delivering Traffic Regulation Orders within a local authority or similar highway environment<br />Knowledge of traffic management legislation and statutory processes<br />Understanding of highway traffic management principles<br />Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and document management systems<br />Ability to interpret legislation and apply it to practical highway schemes<br />Experience in stakeholder management and consultation processes<br />Skills in using GIS, CAD, or TRO management systems Essential Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills<br />Strong organisational and project management skills<br />Ability to analyse objections and develop appropriate recommendations<br />Good stakeholder management and negotiation skills<br />Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team<br />If you are an experienced TRO Engineer with a background in highways and traffic management, and looking for an exciting new challenge, we would love to hear from you.
