Position: UI Developer

Work Location: New York City, NY (Onsite)

Duration: 6 Months Contract

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled UI Developer with hands-on experience in legacy web technologies, including Java, JavaScript, JSP (JavaServer Pages), and Struts. The ideal candidate will play a key role in maintaining, enhancing, and modernizing the front-end of enterprise applications built on older frameworks. This role is perfect for someone who understands the intricacies of traditional web development and is comfortable working in a mature, stable technology stack.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and enhance front-end interfaces for enterprise web applications built on Java EE, JSP, and Struts frameworks.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented JavaScript code for front-end interactivity and client-side validation.
• Collaborate with back-end developers, QA teams, and business analysts to implement UI components that meet functional and technical specifications.
• Optimize application performance and ensure compliance with web standards and best practices.
• Maintain and debug existing code, troubleshoot issues, and propose technical solutions for bug fixes and feature enhancements.
• Participate in code reviews, unit testing, and system integration testing.
• Contribute to legacy system migration planning and modernization initiatives, where applicable.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Strong proficiency in Java (J2EE) and JavaServer Pages (JSP).
• Hands-on experience with Struts (1.x or 2.x) MVC framework.
• Solid knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and cross-browser compatibility issues.
• Experience working with Servlets, JSTL, and related web technologies.
• Familiarity with back-end integration using JDBC, EJB, or other legacy Java technologies.
• Understanding of MVC design patterns and web application architecture.
• Ability to analyze and understand complex legacy codebases.
