LET'S EXPLORE THE ROLE

As the Principal Consultant, Digital Mobile Radio & Critical Communications , you will serve as a recognised subject matter expert, providing strategic, technical and commercial leadership across complex telecommunications and mission-critical communications projects.

You will work closely with major customers across government, public safety, transport, utilities, mining and enterprise sectors, helping them develop, modernise and optimise critical communications networks that support operational resilience and business success.

This is a highly influential role combining technical excellence, thought leadership, client engagement and business development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic consulting and technical leadership for Digital Mobile Radio (DMR), Land Mobile Radio (LMR ) and critical communications projects.
  • Lead the development of communications strategies, business cases, transformation roadmaps and master plans.
  • Conduct technical due diligence, independent engineering reviews and technical assurance activities.
  • Define and review complex communications architectures including DMR, P25, LTE, MCX, private wireless and converged communications solutions.
  • Act as the lead technical advisor for major customer engagements and executive stakeholder forums.
  • Support revenue growth through technical leadership on bids, tenders and business development opportunities.
  • Provide expert guidance on RF engineering, spectrum management, network performance, coverage design and operational resilience.
  • Mentor consultants and engineers while driving capability development and technical excellence.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, regulators, vendors and strategic partners.
  • Drive innovation and thought leadership aligned with emerging technologies and industry trends.

You are a highly respected communications engineering professional with deep expertise in Digital Mobile Radio and mission-critical communications environments.

Essential Experience & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunications, Electrical or Electronics Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 10 years' telecommunications industry experience.
  • At least 5 years specialising in Digital Mobile Radio and critical communications networks.
  • Demonstrated experience leading the design, engineering, commissioning and acceptance of large-scale radio systems.
  • Strong consulting, advisory or telecommunications infrastructure project delivery experience.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence senior executives and customers.
  • Strong understanding of Australian telecommunications regulations and industry standards.
  • Current Australian Driver's Licence.
  • Australian citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance.
Highly Regarded
  • Master's Degree in Engineering , Telecommunications, Technology Management or Business.
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or working towards chartered status.
  • Engineers Australia membership.
  • Motorola, Tait, Hytera or equivalent vendor certifications.
  • PMP, PRINCE2 or other project management certifications.
  • Experience with Private LTE, MCX, Public Safety Communications or Operational Technology environments.
