Ready to own a high-impact pipeline and convert complex opportunities into wins? As our Senior Business Development Manager in the Growth Team, you'll drive profitable growth across Defence, Emergency Services, Mining & Utilities and Space, from early shaping through to contract award.
You'll work closely with the Director of Growth ANZ and collaborate across capability, engineering, bid and proposal teams to build relationships at senior levels, sharpen win strategies, and deliver disciplined, governance-led pursuits.
This role suits a seasoned business winner, commercially sharp, credible with senior stakeholders, and experienced in Commonwealth-style acquisition and capture.
Responsibilities- Owning and growing a multi-year pipeline aligned to government acquisition priorities and critical infrastructure investment programs
- Building and maintaining senior stakeholder relationships across Commonwealth, State and industry customers, including acquisition authorities and delivery partners
- Identifying, qualifying and shaping new opportunities aligned to strategic growth objectives and sovereign capability goals
- Leading and supporting capture activities for complex, strategically significant opportunities (from early qualification to contract award)
- Developing and executing win strategies and capture plans (customer requirements, competitive positioning, teaming, risk, resourcing)
- Driving effective bid/no-bid decisions, capture reviews, and governance gates with clear recommendations to senior leaders
- Coordinating with technical and delivery leaders to shape integrated solutions that meet customer needs and value-for-money expectations
- Supporting strong handover from capture to bid execution and mobilisation, plus post-tender reviews and lessons learned
- Contributing to continuous improvement of business-winning tools, governance and processes, and supporting thought leadership/unsolicited proposals
- A senior network across Defence/Government and at least one priority market sector
- Demonstrated success leading complex BD and capture within Commonwealth/Defence-style acquisition frameworks
- A proven ability to build, qualify and manage a growth pipeline, delivering order intake, revenue and margin outcomes
- Strong capability across commercial, technical and risk considerations
- Ability to operate autonomously in a high-tempo environment, including travel as required
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Business or Marketing (and/or significant relevant experience)
- Australian Citizenship and current AGSVA NV1 clearance (NV2 desirable)
