Job Description



The Document Controller will be responsible for managing project information across multiple large-scale residential development schemes. This role is responsible for establishing and maintaining robust document control systems, ensuring compliance with project standards, and supporting effective communication between internal teams and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.


The position covers multiple project sites, with regular travel required between sites and occasional travel to the head office in West London.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain electronic document management systems (EDMS), ensuring project information is accurately stored, controlled, and distributed.
  • Ensure project documentation remains up to date and is accessible to the appropriate stakeholders throughout all stages of the build.
  • Administer document control systems, provide user support, and carry out quality assurance checks on project information.
  • Set up new projects within the EDMS, including creating users, organisations, permissions, and providing ongoing system administration.
  • Support contractors and consultants with access to project information, user onboarding, and the provision of guidance, training materials, and system support.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for document control queries, resolving issues and liaising with consultants, subcontractors, and project teams.
  • Produce ad hoc reports and provide administrative support using EDMS platforms, Excel, and other digital tools.
  • Monitor documentation workflows, ensuring timely processing of drawings, RFIs, IFCs, and other project documentation.
  • Maintain document control procedures in line with project and quality management standards.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in document control within the construction industry, ideally on large-scale residential or high-rise developments.
  • Strong working knowledge of document management platforms such as Viewpoint, Aconex, Asite, or similar systems (Aconex experience is advantageous).
  • Experience working with BIM workflows and digital construction documentation.
  • Understanding of ISO standards relating to document management.
  • Experience using Field View is desirable.
  • Ability to manage documentation across multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support users at all levels and explain document control processes clearly.
  • Excellent organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to carry out quality checks, track documentation, and monitor RFIs, IFCs, and drawing revisions.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, and the ability to quickly learn new systems and technologies.
