Automation Engineer - remote - 14 years of experiance

Role: Automation Engineer 100% remote, EST hours.

Rate: $50/hr on W2 contract till end of the year, potential to extend another 6 months.
This role is a senior individual contributor role. This individual will partner closely with Manual QA Analysts, Product Owners, and Development teams to expand and maintain automated regression testing across a variety of business-critical applications.
This is not a traditional QA role. The ideal candidate will have a strong software development mindset, excellent coding practices, and the ability to work independently while contributing to a highly collaborative Agile environment.
The primary objective of this role is to help reduce manual regression testing efforts by building, supporting, and enhancing automated test solutions that are scalable, maintainable, and reliable.
What You'll Be Doing

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test solutions using Java-based frameworks
• Convert approved test scenarios and user stories into automated regression tests
• Partner closely with Manual QA SMEs to ensure proper test coverage
• Troubleshoot and resolve automation test failures
• Participate in code reviews and follow software engineering best practices
• Build maintainable, reusable, and well-structured automation code

Must-Haves

• 5+ years of Automation Engineering or SQA Automation experience (software quality assurance)
• Strong Java 21 development experience
• Expert-level Selenium automation experience
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles and coding best practices
• Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
• Strong SQL skills, including writing complex queries for data validation and analysis
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous software development experience
• Some Manual QA background
• Performance testing experience
• K6 experience
• JMeter experience
• AI/ML testing exposure or AI certification(s)
• Experience modernizing or supporting legacy enterprise applications
