Software Tester Analyst

Software Test Analyst to join a quality engineering team that is continuing to expand its test automation capabilities. This is a technical QA role focused primarily on developing and maintaining automated tests for backend and integration workflows rather than traditional front-end or web application testing.

The environment includes an established automation framework using Java and Playwright, with testing concentrated heavily around APIs, middleware, and integrated application workflows. The ideal candidate will have an early-career QA background, approximately 1-3 years of experience, combined with enough development knowledge to work directly with code-based automation.

Top Required Skills

• Java: Hands-on Java knowledge with the ability to understand, modify, and work within existing Java-based automation code. This is not a Java application development role, but candidates need enough Java experience to be productive.

• Test Automation: Approximately 1-3 years of QA/testing experience with direct exposure to building or maintaining automated tests. The manager is tool-agnostic and values transferable automation development skills.

• API / Integration Testing: Experience testing APIs, middleware, and integrated application workflows. This role is much more backend-oriented than UI or front-end focused.

• Code-Based Automation: Experience with frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, Cucumber, or similar tools where the candidate is actually developing automation. Low-code/no-code commercial automation experience alone will not be sufficient.

• Communication & Independence: Ability to work independently, build solutions, and clearly communicate what they are doing and why.

The application is a structured, multi-tier environment rather than a traditional web application, so candidates whose experience is exclusively browser or UI testing may not be technical enough for the position.

Candidate Profile

The strongest candidate will be an early-career QA automation professional with roughly 1-3 years of experience who has progressed beyond basic manual or UI testing and is comfortable working directly with code.

The sweet spot is someone with Java + test automation + API/integration testing experience who understands how multi-tier applications work and can independently contribute to an existing automation framework.

They do not need to be a Java software engineer or automation architect, but they need enough Java competency to read, understand, modify, and build upon existing automation code. Candidates coming primarily from low-code/no-code automation or exclusively front-end web testing will be less aligned.
