Job Description

At Quest Global, UK, we are actively hiringSeniorStress Engineer with previous stress experience on aero gas turbine or naval marine shipsetsto joinone of our Aerospace and Defence projects based in Derby, UK.

You must beeligible for SC security clearance due to the nature of the project.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES

Delivering design solutions by carrying out structural & thermal analysis of aero engine and / or naval marine gas turbine components.

Linear / Non-linear stress analysis of rotating / static components.

Ensure stress reports meet the appropriate levels of quality and robustness and confirm that defined requirements are met.

Ensure that all project stakeholders have the right information at the right time, through proactive communication.

Support other team members with ongoing / future work packages.

SKILLS / COMPETENCIES (ESSENTIAL TO CARRY OUT THIS ROLE)

Proven gas turbine / aerospace design / stress capabilities

Good understanding of gas turbine functionality and operability of major components

Thermo-mechanical & structural analysis of aero engine or turbomachinery components

Linear / Nonlinear stress analysis of aero engines

Knowledge of Vibration (Campbell Diagram) analysis and forced response harmonic analysis, cyclic symmetrical structures, Creep / Plasticity

Knowledge of Low cycle fatigue (LCF) and High cycle fatigue (HCF) calculation methods

Knowledge of Creep, corrosion, erosion and crack propagation assessment of rotating machinery

Damage Tolerance / Melt anomaly methods e.g. fracture mechanics

Basic knowledge of transmission / drive systems e.g. shafts and bearings

Ability to communicate effectively with customers and a diverse staff population

Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality with proprietary information

TOOL KNOWLEDGE

Experience of one or more of these is essential: ANSYS, PLM, UG NX, LS-Dyna, ICEM Meshing, ABAQUS, HYPERWORKS, SCO3

Desirable: NASTRAN, PATRAN, Simcenter

QUALIFICATIONS

Graduate Degree or Masters degree in Engineering (e.g. Aeronautical, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering) or equivalent experience in a gas turbine OEM
