About Ark AbroadArk Abroad helps international professionals reposition themselves for the Australian job market through resumes, LinkedIn profiles, outreach messaging, and practical career coaching.
Every client works with a career coach who understands their background, career goals, strengths, and target roles. Your role begins where the coaching conversation ends.
You will work closely with career coaches to translate their strategy into resumes, LinkedIn profiles, and other career documents that accurately represent a client's experience and position them for opportunities in the Australian job market.
This Is Not a Typical Resume Writing RoleThis is not a role where you'll fill templates or rewrite sentences.
Our career coaches define the strategy. Your responsibility is to translate that strategy into resumes, LinkedIn profiles, and career documents that communicate a client's value, present a clear professional narrative, and align with Australian recruiter expectations.
You'll spend as much time thinking about positioning, structure, evidence, and storytelling as you will writing.
What You Will OwnCareer Document Development
• Write, edit and refine resumes, LinkedIn profiles and other career documents.
• Translate coaching insights into compelling career documents.
• Rewrite responsibilities into measurable achievements.
• Ensure every document is ATS-friendly and aligned with Australian hiring expectations.
Career Document Review
• Review documents before delivery.
• Identify weak positioning, structural issues, repetitive language, formatting errors and missing information.
• Recommend improvements with clear reasoning.
Research & Positioning
• Research Australian job descriptions, recruiter expectations and industry terminology.
• Identify relevant keywords, transferable skills and positioning opportunities.
Working with Career Coaches
• Collaborate closely with career coaches to translate coaching strategy into high-quality career documents.
AI-Assisted Writing
• Use AI writing tools as part of the document creation workflow.
• Review, rewrite, fact-check and humanise AI-assisted drafts before delivery.
Tools & WorkflowYou'll work daily with AI writing tools, Google Workspace, and other collaboration platforms as part of your document creation workflow.
You should be comfortable using AI to accelerate research, drafting, rewriting, and editing while applying your own judgment to improve positioning, accuracy, and writing quality.
You'll also work extensively in Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Drive, collaborating through shared documents, comments, suggestions, and version history to ensure documents are organised, consistent, and delivered on time.
Experience with Microsoft Word and other document collaboration tools is also valuable.
WorkloadThis is a production-focused role. Depending on document complexity, you'll typically work on 10 to 15 career documents each day, including resume writing, LinkedIn profile development, document reviews, revisions, and other career-related documents. We value quality over speed, but you'll be expected to consistently deliver both.
Who We're Looking For1-2 years of experience in resume writing, editorial, copy editing or professional writing. Excellent written English. Strong research skills. Comfortable using AI writing tools and Google Workspace. Ability to identify weak positioning and build compelling career narratives. English Honours, English Literature, Journalism, Mass Communication or related background preferred.
The Kind of Person Who Will Succeed HereYou think like a recruiter, not just a writer. You naturally question positioning, strengthen achievements, build coherent career narratives and produce documents that clearly communicate a client's value.
This Role May Not Be for You IfYou primarily see yourself as a general content writer, rely heavily on templates or AI without critical editing, focus only on grammar, dislike research, or prefer producing generic career documents.
What Success Looks Like• Career documents are delivered accurately and on time.
• Career coaches rarely request major structural revisions.
• Clients receive consistently high-quality career documents.
• Documents meet ATS requirements and Australian recruiter expectations.
• Quality remains consistent while managing a high document volume.
What You'll LearnYou'll gain hands-on exposure to Australian recruitment, career positioning, ATS optimisation, professional branding and editorial review.
