Job Description

Field Service Engineer Salary: Up to £45,000 DOE + Overtime Location: Near Taunton, Somerset (Head Office) with travel across the South West Contract: Full-time, Permanent (45 hours per week) Our client is a well-established and growing specialist within the water and wastewater sector.

Due to continued expansion, they are looking to recruit Field Service Engineers to join their team, based from their Head Office near Taunton with travel to customer sites across the South West.

This is an excellent opportunity for a practical, customer-focused engineer with a mechanical or electrical background to join a business that offers ongoing training, career development and a comprehensive benefits package.

The Role As a Field Service Engineer, you'll be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, commissioning and refurbishment of wastewater and water-related systems. Working directly with customers on-site, you'll ensure equipment is operating safely, efficiently and in line with industry standards.

Key responsibilities include: Installing, servicing and fault-finding on sewage treatment systems and pumping stations. Maintaining pumps, motors, valves, pipework and associated mechanical equipment. Carrying out basic electrical diagnostics and fault finding. Performing system inspections, field testing, smoke testing and sampling.

Providing professional, timely updates to customers regarding work completed. Completing service reports and documentation accurately and to a high standard. Travelling throughout the South West, including occasional overnight stays (typically around five nights per quarter). You'll be working on a variety of systems including:

Pumping stations Sewage treatment plants Septic tanks Potable water systems Rainwater harvesting systems Associated water and wastewater equipment About You We're looking for candidates with: Previous experience in a Field Service Engineer or similar maintenance role.

Knowledge of wastewater products, sewage treatment systems or pumping stations (preferred). Strong mechanical knowledge, including pumps, motors, valves and pipework. Basic electrical fault-finding skills. A full UK driving licence. Excellent problem-solving abilities and a customer-focused approach.

The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a wider team. Flexibility to travel across the South West and undertake occasional overnight stays. Engineers from mechanical, electrical, utilities or industrial maintenance backgrounds are encouraged to apply, even if they have not previously worked within the water industry.

Desirable Experience within the water, wastewater or sewage treatment sector. CSCS Card and/or Confined Space certification. Knowledge of relevant industry regulations (training can be provided). What's on Offer Salary of up to £45,000, depending on experience. Overtime opportunities (approximately 1 week in 5 on rota).
