Database Engineer (PostgreSQL)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Database Engineer (PostgreSQL) to design, optimize, and maintain high-performance PostgreSQL databases supporting metadata-driven backend services and microservices architectures. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in database design, performance tuning, schema management, and query optimization, while ensuring data integrity, scalability, and high availability across enterprise applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain PostgreSQL database architecture for enterprise backend applications.
• Lead schema design, database migrations, versioning, and ensure backward compatibility.
• Optimize SQL queries, indexing strategies, execution plans, and overall database performance.
• Tune and manage ORM frameworks such as Prisma to improve application performance and maintainability.
• Monitor database health, troubleshoot production performance issues, and implement proactive optimization strategies.
• Ensure data integrity, security, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery best practices.
• Collaborate with backend developers to support Node.js microservices and optimize database interactions.
• Leverage AI-assisted tools for database performance analysis, query optimization, and troubleshooting where appropriate.
• Support CI/CD deployment processes related to database schema changes and migrations.
• Develop and maintain database documentation, standards, and operational procedures.

Mandatory Skills

• Postgres DBA – Advanced
• PostgreSQL – Advanced
• Prisma ORM – Intermediate
• Strong experience in database performance tuning, indexing, query optimization, and schema design.
• Experience with database migrations, replication, backup, recovery, and high availability.
• Hands-on experience supporting backend applications and REST-based services.

Preferred Skills

• Experience supporting Node.js microservices.
• Knowledge of AI-assisted database optimization and performance analysis tools.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated database deployments.
• Experience with cloud-hosted PostgreSQL environments (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform).
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
