I am seeking an experienced Senior Infrastructure Architect to play a pivotal role in defining and driving enterprise-wide infrastructure strategy within a leading international banking organisation. This is a highly visible position responsible for providing strategic leadership, architectural governance, and technology direction across multiple infrastructure domains, ensuring technology investments align with business objectives and enterprise architecture principles.

Working closely with senior technology leaders, architects, engineering teams, and business stakeholders, you will help modernise and evolve a complex technology landscape while balancing innovation, risk, compliance, and operational excellence. As a Senior Infrastructure Architect, you will provide enterprise-level oversight and direction across infrastructure architecture, connecting business and technology requirements to deliver scalable, secure, and future-ready solutions.

The organisation is pleased to offer this role on a hybrid working basis with 3 days working from their City of London offices, therefore you must be within commutable distance of London to be considered.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert across infrastructure technology domains, providing strategic guidance on services, platforms, and solutions.
  • Lead enterprise-level infrastructure architecture engagements, ensuring initiatives align with business objectives and enterprise architecture standards.
  • Provide governance and oversight for infrastructure projects, releases, and change initiatives, ensuring appropriate due diligence, planning, risk management, and engineering practices are followed.
  • Mentor and support Infrastructure Architecture team members, ensuring high-quality architecture deliverables and engagement outcomes.
  • Work closely with senior technology leadership to prioritise architectural initiatives and align delivery with strategic business goals.
  • Build strong relationships across technology, architecture, and business teams.
  • Develop a broad understanding of organisational objectives and operational requirements.
  • Ensure alignment between infrastructure architecture and wider enterprise architecture domains, including business, application, data, and security architectures.
  • Provide architectural leadership and cross-domain expertise to support delivery teams in designing fit-for-purpose solutions.
  • Contribute to technology evaluation, selection, and adoption processes.
  • Identify capability gaps within existing infrastructure landscapes and drive technology improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain enterprise infrastructure standards, patterns, and best practices.
  • Provide architectural guidance throughout the solution life cycle.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise standards, policies, and architectural principles.
  • Create and maintain architecture artefacts, design documentation, standards, and governance materials.
  • Challenge existing approaches where necessary to ensure solutions remain relevant, efficient, secure, and aligned with organisational needs.
  • Support architectural review boards and approval processes.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Proven experience operating as a Senior Infrastructure Architect, Enterprise Infrastructure Architect, or similar strategic architecture role.
  • Experience within banking, financial services, or other highly regulated environments is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise infrastructure architecture, including cloud, networking, compute, storage, security, and platform technologies.
  • Deep understanding of infrastructure design principles, governance, and risk management.
  • Experience developing strategic roadmaps and driving technology transformation initiatives.
  • Strong appreciation of both modern technology platforms and the challenges associated with evolving Legacy environments.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to influence senior executives and technical teams alike.
  • Experience producing high-quality architecture documentation, standards, and governance artefacts.
  • TOGAF or equivalent architecture certification.
  • Experience working within complex global organisations.
  • Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks and governance methodologies.
