About the role

We have an opportunity for a Principal Project Manager to be part of our Project Management Office, Technology and Communication Services Command. The Principal Project Manager leads and manages the risk, quality and progress of ICT projects to organisational standards, and ensures projects are completed on time, on budget, to quality standards, and within agreed scope.

Join the NSW Police Force as a Principal Project Manager and play a leading role in the transformation of NSWPF's network and technology environment.

NSW Police Force is seeking an experienced Principal Project Manager to lead the delivery of critical technology transformation streams. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a large scale program modernising network, security, and communication platforms that support frontline policing across the state.

You will be accountable for the end to end delivery, oversight and strategic direction of project streams within a major capital program. This program is designed to:

  • Strengthen cybersecurity capability
  • Support critical services such as Triple Zero (000)
  • Enable key initiatives including the Integrated Connected Officer

As a Principal Project Manager, you will lead complex, high impact projects across a multi tranche program focused on modernising NSWPF's digital infrastructure.

Key responsibilities
  • Leading the planning and delivery of large, complex projects
  • Managing project resources, budgets, and contractual obligations
  • Developing and executing project strategies and delivery plans
  • Ensuring projects are delivered efficiently on time, and aligned to organisational priorities

You will lead delivery across one or more of the following streams:

  • Next Generation Network and Security Services
  • Modern Audio Visual Services

Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, IT, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 8+ years in networking/telecom or IT, with strong experience in service delivery and leading large projects or programmes.
  • Proven track record delivering on time, on budget, and to quality across multiple concurrent projects.

Hands on experience with scope, schedule, cost, risk, and change management in a services delivery context.

Proficiency with standard PM tooling such as Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Proven ability to lead multi stream delivery in complex environments

Demonstrated experience working across business and IT stakeholders

Strong ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive alignment

Excellent problem solving and analytical capability

Experience managing vendors and delivery partners

Ability to operate effectively in dynamic, ambiguous environments

Highly Regarded
  • Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile or equivalent) preferred
  • Experience in public sector environments
  • Exposure to data, analytics, or AI related initiatives
  • Experience in process and improving operating models of support and ownership
  • Familiarity with structured PMO / EPMO delivery environments
  • Certifications such as ITIL, Microsoft 365/Teams preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Office / Office 365, Windows, meeting room & video conferencing technology, MTRoA and MTRoW, and enterprise collaboration technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or supervising AV/VC, or digital collaboration team.
  • Working knowledge of Cisco and Microsoft video conferencing technologies.
  • Experience in running procurement activities related to product and professional services.

Experience in managing technical teams and engineering resources within projects.

Total remuneration package: $196,275 pa. Package includes salary from $165,865 to $173,174, plus employer's contribution to superannuation of 12% and annual leave loading.
