Database Administrator

Job Summary

Telstra's looking for a Database Administrator with some experience, to join a small, highly technical team supporting critical government environments. In this role, you'll be responsible for maintaining, optimising and supporting SQL and Oracle databases that underpin key applications and services.

Job Description

You'll work in a collaborative operations environment where flexibility, technical expertise and problem-solving are highly valued.

Ideally, you'll be based in Canberra, but we can consider experienced DBAs to be based in Sydney as well.

There's workplace flexibility in this role; you can WFH, on-site or a mixture of both, depending on what suits you and your commitments.

A minimum Active NV1 clearance is essential to be considered for this role, and you must be able to participate in an on call roster, approximately one in every ten weeks.

What we offer
  • Performance-related pay
  • 16 weeks paid parental leave for primary and secondary carers
  • Purchased annual leave scheme
  • Access to thousands of learning programs so you can level up
  • Additional Telstra day off for you to spend as you like
  • Additional 30% off Telstra products and services
What you'll do
  • Manage and maintain SQL and Oracle database environments
  • Perform database patching, upgrades and ongoing optimisation
  • Diagnose and resolve performance and availability issues (e.g. slow performance, capacity constraints, infrastructure impacts)
  • Support incident response, fault diagnosis and service restoration activities
  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams to resolve cross-platform issues
About you
  • Candidates must hold an active current Defence clearance to be considered (Minimum NV1).
  • Proven experience working as a Database Administrator (DBA)
  • Strong technical expertise across SQL and Oracle databases
  • Experience performing database patching, upgrades and troubleshooting
  • Confident working in operational environments, including incident response
  • Highly competent, hands on technical capability (depth of skill more important than years of experience)

Please ensure an up-to-date CV is attached, to be considered.
