Control Room Specialist
Location: Birmingham, West Midlands Shift Pattern: Mornings, Afternoons or Nights Pay: from £19 p/h
About
the Role
We are seeking a proactive and analytical Control Room Specialist to join our Central Logistics Centre. This is a key operational role, acting as the link between our automated warehouse systems and physical warehouse operations.
You will be responsible for monitoring warehouse management systems, ensuring maximum system uptime and throughput, identifying and resolving operational issues, and supporting warehouse leadership teams to maintain efficient service levels within a highly regulated pharmaceutical environment.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and manage warehouse control systems and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
Identify, investigate, and help resolve system issues to minimise operational downtime.
Monitor system performance, throughput, and capacity, taking action to address bottlenecks.
Support warehouse operations by prioritising workloads and managing outbound flow.
Act as the first point of contact for team leaders and managers regarding system-related queries.
Analyse performance data and provide KPI reporting to support operational decision-making.
Work closely with IT, engineering, and operational teams to resolve technical issues.
Support weekly operational planning, including workload allocation and system optimisation.
Conduct root cause analysis on system and operational issues.
Ensure compliance with company procedures, health and safety standards, and pharmaceutical regulations.
Skills and Experience
Essential
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to troubleshoot operational and system-related issues.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Experience working in a fast-paced warehouse, logistics, or distribution environment.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks.
Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office 365.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple departments.
Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including mornings, afternoons, and nights.
Desirable
Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
Knowledge of automated warehouse systems such as KNAPP.
Experience within a pharmaceutical, logistics, or highly regulated environment.
Understanding of performance reporting, KPI analysis, and continuous improvement activities.
Knowledge of EU Good Distribution Practice (GDP) or similar compliance standards.
