Job Description

Join the teams that create the magic behind the scenes at Walt Disney World Resort. As a GIS & Land Survey Specialist, you will bridge the worlds of land surveying and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), supporting the legal, planning, design, construction, and ongoing operations across the resort and district. You'll work cross-functionally with engineers, architects, project managers, regulatory agencies, and fellow Cast Members, ensuring the highest standards of asset management, mapping, and data integrity. You will maintain indispensable geospatial resources, legal documentation, and land records that underpin Disney's continued innovation and excellence. Please note this role will not have internal field crew support.

This position will report to the Manager Utility Mapping Services.

Responsibilities / You Will:
  • Manage diverse land surveying projects, including Topographic, Utility, Wetland, Boundary, Bathymetric, and 3D Scanning work.

  • Conduct QA/QC reviews of survey and mapping deliverables, ensuring high geometric accuracy per regulatory standards (e.g., Chapter 5j-17 of the Florida Administrative Code).

  • Maintain and develop GIS databases, including utility mapping, land inventory systems, road ownership, faux plats, encumbrances, land/jurisdictional boundaries, and legal descriptions.

  • Update GIS databases with project and sustaining activities, ensuring compatibility with utility models and collecting field data using ArcGIS and mobile GIS apps.

  • File translation between different datums and resampling aerial photography for CAD and mapping needs.

  • Prepare, review, and maintain legal descriptions, plats, contractor laydown site maps, and historical survey data.

  • Provide subject matter expertise and troubleshooting support for GIS and survey technology, keeping up-to-date on developments in LiDAR, GPS, ArcGIS, and related software.

  • Serve as the liaison between survey, engineering, project management, and regulatory entities, and support coordination with external consultants and vendors.

  • Document and communicate procedures, standards, and technical notes for staff, including non-technical partners.

Basic Qualifications / You Will Have:
  • 5+ years of diverse experience in Land Surveying , covering both field and data management aspects.

  • 5+ years of experience with GIS data and technologies, including database management, metadata input, and mobile GIS application development.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D and working knowledge of ArcGIS applications.

  • Experience peer-reviewing survey work and managing outside consultants/vendors.

  • Familiarity with LiDAR scanning, processing software, and conversion between different data systems and datums.

  • Experience supporting, troubleshooting, and maintaining GPS hardware/software.

  • Strong communication skills to partner with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required Education:
  • Bachelor's or Associate degree in geomatics, land surveying, GIS, geography, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Registered Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in the State of Florida, or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.

The hiring range for this position in Orlando, FL is $91,000.00 to $121,900.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
