Actuarial  Analyst

 

We are seeking a contract Actuarial Analyst to support the development and implementation of pricing strategies for the launch of Personal Auto, Homeowners, Dwelling Property, and Umbrella products in Virginia.

This individual will be responsible for developing initial rate indications, evaluating rating plans, preparing actuarial support for regulatory filings, and partnering with the Product team to support market-entry objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop initial rate indications and pricing recommendations for Personal Lines products.
  • Evaluate and develop rating plans and rating factors.
  • Analyze product profitability, competitive positioning, and market conditions.
  • Support the development of pricing strategies for launching products in a new state.
  • Build initial rates when limited or no internal loss experience is available.
  • Work with ISO-based products and loss costs.
  • Prepare actuarial documentation and supporting materials for regulatory filings.
  • Assist with selecting territorial structures, class plans, discounts, rating factors, and initial rate levels.
  • Evaluate competitor pricing and overall market positioning.
  • Collaborate with Product and other internal teams throughout the product-launch process.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to business stakeholders.
  • Work independently with limited supervision.

Required Qualifications

  • At least five years of property and casualty pricing experience.
  • Personal Lines pricing experience involving Auto and/or Homeowners products.
  • Experience developing rate indications and pricing recommendations.
  • Experience evaluating rating plans and developing rating factors.
  • Strong Excel and data-analysis skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five or more completed CAS actuarial exams.
  • Experience launching Personal Lines products in a new state.
  • Experience developing rates with limited or no internal experience data.
  • Experience with ISO-based products and loss costs.
  • Personal Lines regulatory filing experience.
  • Experience selecting territorial structures, class plans, discounts, and initial rate levels.
  • Knowledge of competitor pricing and market positioning.
  • Virginia-specific Personal Lines pricing or regulatory experience.

Additional Requirements

Successful completion of a background check and drug screening is required before onboarding.
