Underwriting Specialist

Duration: Full Time / Salary

Location: Hybrid (Onsite Tuesday & Wednesday in Baltimore, MD/Sparks, MD)

Authorization: W2 Candidates - No Sponsorship

Key Responsibilities

• Review and analyze P&C insurance policies to ensure files are complete and accurate.

• Review loss runs and claims history and recommend appropriate terms and conditions when needed.

• Conduct underwriting calls with clients to gather risk information needed for actuarial pricing.

• Review large amounts of data and information for accuracy and completeness.

• Prepare and provide underwriting documents supporting eligible coverages for the current policy year.

• Explain available lines of coverage and answer client questions.

• Coordinate with internal departments to obtain underwriting approvals and sign-off.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of underwriting experience required.

• 2+ years of experience reviewing commercial P&C insurance policies

• P&C insurance license or industry designation preferred.

• Captive insurance experience preferred.

• Strong understanding of P&C insurance and experience reviewing policies

• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
