ISS is looking for a proactive and hands-on Facilities Operations Assistant to join our team supporting the prestigious Virgin Media contract in Birmingham . This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied role, combining workplace operations, customer service, events support and basic maintenance within a busy corporate environment.

As a key member of the onsite facilities team, you will play an important role in creating a safe, welcoming and well-maintained workplace experience for employees, visitors and clients. You’ll be a visible presence across the site, supporting the smooth running of daily operations and ensuring the highest standards are maintained.

This role offers great variety — no two days will be the same. From supporting events and workplace setups, assisting with maintenance activities, carrying out building checks and providing front-of-house support, you’ll be at the heart of delivering an excellent workplace experience for one of ISS’s key clients.

Why Join ISS?

  • Work on a high-profile Virgin Media account within a professional corporate environment.
  • Join a global facilities management organisation that invests in its people and career development.
  • Enjoy a varied, hands-on role with exposure across workplace operations, events and facilities services.
  • Be part of a supportive onsite team where your contribution directly impacts the employee experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support event setups, room configurations, AV requirements and furniture moves.
  • Provide a professional front-of-house presence, welcoming visitors and supporting colleagues.
  • Maintain excellent workplace presentation standards across the site.
  • Carry out basic maintenance tasks, inspections and defect reporting.
  • Support contractors and planned works across the building.
  • Assist with workplace compliance, risk assessments and safe working practices.
  • Support emergency procedures, fire safety activities and general site operations.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is practical, reliable and customer-focused, with a willingness to get involved across a wide range of facilities activities.

You may come from a background in facilities management, hospitality, customer service, building services or a hands-on operational role and will be comfortable working independently while being part of a wider team.

You’ll bring:

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • A proactive attitude and ability to solve problems.
  • Confidence supporting events, workplace services and operational tasks.
  • Experience working in a corporate, facilities or customer-facing environment.
  • A flexible approach and willingness to support wherever needed.

Essential training includes SIA licence, ladder safety, manual handling and low-level electrical safety awareness, with first aid and fire marshal experience desirable.

If you’re looking for a varied facilities role where you can make a visible impact every day, working with a world-leading organisation on an exciting client account, this could be the perfect opportunity.
