Role Summary
This role involves supporting and maintaining the network infrastructure critical to aviation safety operations. The Network Installer will focus on ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of IP-based networks supporting air traffic systems. This is a long-term, full-time position based in the Dallas, TX area, requiring regional travel to multiple FAA locations.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the uptime, performance, and security of FAA network infrastructure
- Install, configure, and support routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless systems
- Support SD-WAN solutions across distributed environments
- Install, terminate, and test fiber optic cabling, including single-mode and multi-mode fibers
- Conduct fiber testing using OTDR and certification tools
- Monitor systems daily, analyze logs, and respond to network incidents
- Troubleshoot issues across fiber, SD-WAN, and IP layers, escalating when necessary
- Support network cutovers, migrations, and failover validation
- Maintain accurate network diagrams, documentation, and configuration records
Qualifications
- This position requires eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance. In accordance with federal law, U.S. citizenship is required.
- Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of related experience or equivalent combination
- Proven experience managing enterprise network environments
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)
- Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, or similar networking equipment
- Experience with TDM-to-IP migrations and modern IP-based networks
- Familiarity with SD-WAN, fiber optics, wireless LAN/WAN technologies
- Knowledge of firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and network monitoring tools
- Ability to read and interpret network diagrams and schematics
- Experience with fiber testing tools such as OTDR
- Demonstrated leadership and team collaboration skills
Publishing Pay Range: $61.00 - $66.00 hourly
This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
