Position:   Business Data Analyst – Insurance Domain (Property & Casualty)  

Location: Jersey City, NJ hybrid
Employment Type: Contract (C2C) 

 

We are seeking an experienced Business Data Analyst with a strong background in Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance, enterprise data analysis, and large-scale data transformation initiatives. This role is ideal for professionals with expertise in SQL, Source-to-Target Mapping (STTM), data profiling, and business analysis who can bridge the gap between business stakeholders and technical teams to deliver high-quality data solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform end-to-end data analysis, including data profiling, validation, transformation, and reconciliation for enterprise data initiatives.
  • Develop detailed Source-to-Target Mapping (STTM) documents based on business and technical requirements.
  • Gather, analyze, and document functional and data requirements by collaborating with business stakeholders and SMEs.
  • Work closely with Data Engineers and Developers to implement data transformation, consolidation, and standardization solutions.
  • Develop and optimize complex SQL queries for large-scale data analysis and performance tuning.
  • Conduct data quality assessments and recommend data cleansing, enrichment, and validation strategies.
  • Apply Property & Casualty Insurance domain expertise to ensure alignment of policy, claims, and related business data.
  • Facilitate communication between business users, data modelers, developers, and project teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Prepare clear technical documentation, business artifacts, mapping documents, and data specifications.
  • Support ETL validation, testing, and data reconciliation activities throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in Data Analysis, Business Analysis, Data Mapping, and Data Transformation within enterprise environments.
  • Strong hands-on expertise with SQL, including analytical functions, query optimization, and performance tuning.
  • Proven experience developing Source-to-Target Mapping (STTM) documents.
  • Solid understanding of ETL processes, data integration, and enterprise data flows.
  • Experience with data consolidation, standardization, and transformation across multiple heterogeneous data sources.
  • Strong knowledge of Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance, including policy administration and claims lifecycle.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management experience with the ability to work effectively across business and technical teams.
  • Excellent documentation skills with the ability to produce clear technical and functional deliverables.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting enterprise data warehouse, reporting, or analytics initiatives.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and modern data architectures.
  • Experience with data governance, metadata management, and data quality frameworks.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
