ALS Environmental Division operates a modern, NATA accredited laboratory in Smithfield (Sydney) that is equipped with the latest analytical technology and partners with national and regional clients. An opportunity has become available to appoint and welcome a Quality Assistant on a fixed term contract, joining a close knit team that strives to exceed internal and external client expectations. The role covers parental leave from August 2026 to September 2027, Monday to Friday, 7AM to 3:15PM.
Responsibilities- Support and undertake method audits according to ALS Procedures.
- Assist with monitoring quality control and resolving issues within the laboratory.
- Monitor and maintain equipment calibration schedule.
- Perform internal equipment calibration checks and record them in the system.
- Perform monthly contamination checks as per quality procedures and record them.
- Perform container checks as per quality procedures and record them.
- Assist in monitoring records of temperature data loggers, training records, reagent checks, chemical logs, and updating quality work instructions in the system.
- Assist with monitoring laboratory performance in proficiency test studies.
- Conduct internal method or procedure audits and prepare audit reports.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Lab experience preferred.
- Happy to undertake a variety of tasks including laboratory work and administration.
- Strong time management and ability to use a variety of computer systems and tools.
- Effective communication - verbal and written.
- Team player but also able to work independently after training.
To be eligible to work at ALS you must be a Citizen or Permanent Resident of the country you are applying for, or either hold or be able to obtain a valid working visa.
