Job Title: Apache Flink Developer (Java/Python)

Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid – 2–3 Days/Week Onsite)

Duration: Long-Term Contract

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Apache Flink Developer to design, develop, and optimize real-time stream processing applications for enterprise-scale data platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Apache Flink as the primary skill, along with solid programming experience in Java and/or Python. This role involves building high-performance streaming data pipelines, integrating with distributed systems, and supporting mission-critical real-time analytics solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable real-time data processing applications using Apache Flink.
• Build and optimize streaming data pipelines using Java and/or Python.
• Develop event-driven data processing solutions capable of handling large-scale, high-throughput data streams.
• Integrate Apache Flink with messaging platforms such as Apache Kafka and other distributed data systems.
• Optimize Flink jobs for performance, scalability, fault tolerance, and reliability.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in streaming applications and production environments.
• Collaborate with data engineers, software developers, and business stakeholders to deliver robust streaming solutions.
• Participate in code reviews and implement best practices for software development, testing, and deployment.
• Develop reusable components and maintain technical documentation for streaming applications.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Apache Flink (Required).
• Strong programming skills in Java and/or Python.
• Experience developing real-time streaming and event-driven applications.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and stream processing concepts.
• Experience with Apache Kafka or similar messaging technologies.
• Familiarity with SQL and relational/non-relational databases.
• Experience with Linux environments and version control systems such as Git.
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Knowledge of Spark, Hadoop, or other big data technologies is a plus.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus or Grafana is desirable.
