Lead IT Operations & Integration Engineer - Cloud, M&A & Automation

Rather than focusing on corporate bureaucracy and theoretical frameworks, our client's Technology division is driven by practical outcomes, technical delivery and continuous modernisation.

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Lead IT Operations & Integration Engineer - Cloud, M&A & Automationr to take ownership of the technical integration of newly acquired businesses into the organisation's enterprise environment.

This is a senior individual contributor role with no direct reports. It is designed for a technically strong practitioner who prefers solving complex technology problems and delivering outcomes through hands-on execution rather than people management.

The role will be responsible for assessing acquired environments, designing secure integration architectures, and leading the automation, migration and consolidation of infrastructure, systems and services into the organisation's core Azure and Microsoft 365 platforms.

Success in this role will require a pragmatic approach, strong technical judgement, and the ability to independently drive complex integration initiatives from assessment and design through to implementation and operational transition.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the technical assessment, integration, and migration of newly acquired businesses into the enterprise technology environment.
• Modernise day to day operations across Azure, M365, and Entra ID, identifying manual bottlenecks and building repeatable scripts/playbooks.
• Develop and embed an automation first approach across infrastructure and operational processes to improve efficiency, consistency, and scalability.
• Design and implement secure, standardised, and supportable solutions aligned with enterprise architecture, governance, and compliance requirements.
• Drive the adoption of modern Microsoft technologies across cloud, infrastructure, identity, and workplace services.
• Identify opportunities to automate and simplify operational processes across Azure, Microsoft 365, and associated platforms.
• Partner with senior technology and business stakeholders to translate strategic objectives into practical technical solutions.
• Develop integration roadmaps, migration plans, and technical standards that support future growth and acquisitions.
• Ensure technology initiatives are delivered with clear accountability for scope, timelines, risks, and outcomes.
• Provide technical leadership across infrastructure, cloud, and modern workplace platforms, with a strong focus on security, resilience, and operational excellence.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and service delivery excellence across all technology initiatives.

Skills & Experience

• 10+ years' experience across senior technical and technology leadership roles, with demonstrated success delivering enterprise infrastructure, cloud transformation, automation, and integration initiatives.
• Strong hands on experience designing and implementing solutions within Microsoft technology environments, particularly Azure and Microsoft 365.
• Proven experience leading complex technology integration and migration programmes, ideally involving business acquisitions, consolidations, or large scale transformation initiatives.
• Experience implementing automation frameworks and leveraging automation to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort.
• Strong understanding of cloud architecture, infrastructure modernisation, and enterprise technology platforms.
• Azure certifications are highly regarded and relevant cloud or architecture certifications are desirable.
• Sound understanding of cyber security principles, identity and access management (IAM), single sign on (SSO), governance, and secure by design practices.
• Demonstrated ability to align technology decisions with business objectives and deliver measurable outcomes.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical business language.
• Comfortable operating in fast paced, evolving environments where priorities can shift quickly and pragmatic decision making is essential.
