Senior Systems Engineer

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Senior Systems Engineer for a CONTRACT assignment with one of our premier Regulatory clients in Rockville, MD or Tysons, VA.

We are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer with cloud (AWS and/or Azure), Linux, docker, and scripting (Python and/or bash) experience.

Responsibilities :

• As part of the Platform Engineering team, you will be helping with the automation and streamlining of application delivery operations and processes, especially focused on the Linux operating system as used by EC2s and containers such as ECS and EKS.
• This role leverages modern DevOps practices including containerization, CI/CD, and AI-powered tools, with scripting in Python and bash used at every stage.
• Architecting and maintaining Linux gold images (AMIs and Docker)
• Building and managing CI/CD images, components, templates, and pipelines in GitLab
• Enforcing Desired State Configuration (DSC) via Ansible
• Applying AI-driven automation to improve developer productivity and reduce manual effort.

Required Skills :

• At least 3 years of hands-on experience in the areas/tools listed below, plus a relevant BS or equivalent work experience:
• Strong background in Linux/Unix Engineering
• Strong experience in scripting such as Python and bash
• Experience with containerization (Dockerfiles, EKS, ECS, Fargate)
• Working knowledge of continuous integration platforms such as GitLab
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tools such as Ansible
• Experience leveraging AI tools for code generation, troubleshooting, documentation, and automation
• Candidates should also be able to evaluate emerging technologies and collaborate effectively across Application Development, Information Security, Networking, and DevOps teams.
