We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established Building Services Consultancy based in Nottingham. The business delivers Mechanical and Electrical design solutions across a diverse range of sectors and has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, technically robust engineering services. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join their collaborative multidisciplinary team.
Your new role
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be involved in the delivery of projects from initial feasibility and concept development through to detailed design and construction support (RIBA Stages 0-5). Working closely with Mechanical Engineers, Revit Technicians and Building Physics specialists, you will produce coordinated electrical designs across a varied project portfolio.Key responsibilities will include:
Producing detailed electrical building services designs and calculations.
Undertaking site surveys, condition assessments and feasibility studies.
Preparing specifications, reports and technical documentation.
Applying for utility connections and liaising with relevant service providers.
Reviewing subcontractor designs and technical submissions.
Attending client, contractor and design team meetings.
Carrying out site inspections and preparing associated reports.
Supporting and mentoring junior engineers and apprentices.
Assisting with project design strategies and technical solutions.
Ensuring designs comply with current regulations, British Standards and industry best practice.
Contributing to the successful delivery of projects while maintaining high technical and quality standards.
What you'll need to succeed
Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.Experience producing electrical building services designs within a consultancy or contractor environment.
Proficiency with industry-standard electrical design software.
Good understanding of current Building Regulations, British Standards and design guidance.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clients, contractors and colleagues.
Professional membership or progress towards chartership would be advantageous.
